WHO Technical Meeting on Water Quality Control in Drinking-water Distribution Systems, 1-2 July.
Bringing together WHO expertise and global perspectives in water quality and health, and IWA operational knowledge and best practices in water management and water safety plan implementation, participants will share insights and key policy messages in a global context. The expected output aims to contribute towards a safe, sustainable water supply reliably delivered to every community.
Water Convention 2011 joint WHO/IWA Water Quality and Health Workshop "Safe Water: the key to unlock public health benefits", 4 July.
A series of renowned speakers will share insights and key policy messages on water quality issues and communicate experiences in WSP implementation. There will be a focus on the new integrated WHO Strategy of water quality and health and references to emerging issues in the new edition of the WHO Guidelines. Global Launch WHO Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality, 4th edition,
The WHO Guidelines have been systematically revised following over five years of extensive consultation with hundreds of experts. This 4th edition expands on key concepts like health-based targets and water safety planning; presents new risk assessments on microbial, chemical and radiological hazards, and addresses emerging issues of public concern like pharmaceuticals in drinking-water. This document will be available for download, starting 4 July 2011 at:
